Samantha is one of my top finds since beginning to scour the music scene for relatively unknown artists with high levels of talent. Between her regular gigs at L.A. music showcase, The Mint. Her regular podcast on www.SamanthaMurphy.com and her songwriting, she has found time to appear on The Tonight Show, Be Sponsored by Gibson Guitars and put together one of the finest pop/female vocal CD’s of the past few years. Samantha has a spectacular voice and every time I re-listen to her new CD I keep being amazed at just how enjoyable it is. The Songs on Somewhere between Starving and Stardom chronicle the joys and challenges that anyone who has ever tried to live a creative lifestyle in this country can strongly relate to. Her approach is always upbeat in a way that shows off sparkling talent rather than lamenting over the hardships facing creative artists in our over commercialized music environment. Samantha is gracious enough to come and play for us here in Chattanooga on Saturday Sept. 24 in a solo performance along with Justin Karpinos at Barking Legs, and again on Oct. 15, along with Jennifer Brantley and The Little Country Giants at The Barking legs theatre.

has become one of the grand flag bearers of the improvisational music movement on an international level. “Improv,” which was, and still is to a large degree, music which comes about as a spontaneous event. Rooted in modern jazz and experimentation, the music being presented by these sonic pioneers seems to have become more sophisticated and compositional in nature. This could be due to the fact that these guys have been at it for nearly 20 years. The Shaking Rays have become more than just a musical group. Their educational and artistic community projects are highly documented….

Two full bands featuring traditional country and southern rock with beautiful vocal melodies and heartfelt strorytelling will combine for an evening of pure entertainment at Barking Legs.
No River City was a part of the largest attended ArtFRONT Show to date and have made instant fans in Chattanooga at their earlier performance here with Little Country Giants. Loosely compared to The Jayhawks in style, No River City views all comparisons as an affront and challenges all to come out and experience a real melodic southern rock band with all original material that will leave an impression and their tunes in your head.
And Jennifer Brantley celebrates her rising popularity and her new CD which is currently receiving the finishing touches from the producer and engineer of grammy winning recordings by Allison Krause, Ralph Stanley and many others. A band called “Up With The Joneses” Has been around for a number of years making their brand of party music synonomous with high energy fun times in “The Scenic City of the South.” I would call their style of music “Speed Funk”……..or something of that nature. Since ArtFRONT has been getting quite a few hits from people searching for “Up With The Joneses” of late, I thought I’d resurrect this article from last year and add some important updated information about Chattanooga's premier party band.
